A Journey of Service: Sundarban Kultali Camp Experience
On January 12, 2025, our team embarked on a meaningful journey to Sundarban Kultali Camp, located 98 km away. The camp was meticulously planned in coordination with the management committee, considering that the location was in a rural area. We decided to start early, setting our departure time at 7:30 AM. Equipped with packed food and water for the journey, we were ready to take on the day.
The Journey Begins
Upon reaching the meeting point, we found the doctors and the management team already assembled. However, we faced an initial setback—the driver had yet to arrive due to the distance he had to travel. Once he arrived, we promptly set out on our journey.
Team Members:
- 2 Ward Boys
- 1 Nurse
- Doctors
- Management Team
As we progressed, we encountered an unexpected delay. A traffic jam caused by two large lorries held us up for approximately 40 minutes. Despite this, we made the most of the situation by taking a short halt for breakfast before resuming our journey.
Reaching Kultali and Overcoming Challenges
By noon, we arrived at Kultali Police Station. The real challenge, however, lay ahead—reaching the exact location of the camp. The school where the camp was to be held was located 3 km inside from the main road, with a difficult and thick road making accessibility a challenge.
Nevertheless, we persevered and reached our destination successfully. The camp was set up in a local school, and by 1:00 PM, we were ready to serve the people.
Making a Difference
Despite the challenging journey, the most rewarding aspect of the camp was the opportunity to provide healthcare services to those in need. Over 300 patients received treatment, making the entire effort worthwhile. Seeing the gratitude and relief on their faces was a reminder of why we do what we do.
The Journey Back
After a long yet fulfilling day, we concluded the camp and started our return journey. By 9:30 PM, we reached home, exhausted but content, knowing that we had made a difference in the lives of so many people.
This experience reinforced our commitment to service and reminded us that while challenges may arise, the impact we create is always worth the effort. The Sundarban Kultali Camp was not just a journey; it was a mission accomplished.
